Jon and his new glasses

Jon got his glasses just last week. We can tell now that he can see better. He'll actually sit in the chair while watching TV, instead of so close up.

He looks a little different, but he's still the same Jon.

He did say that his glasses make him smarter.

Jacob is also asking us for his glasses. He wants to be just like Kuya.

So, we've been snowed in. I'm so thankful that my husband loves to drive in the snow and has confidence and all that.
It hasn't slowed us down that much.
I've been working, since I have my laptop and can get in remotely to the company. I'm not sure this is always a good thing, since there is no reason to stop me from working...and no excuse to not be working. So, I'm still working....

We had a get together on Friday night. Since I was working, I opened the page to Classic Pot Roast in the Joy of cooking and handed it over to Philip. That's all I had to do, since I had all the ingredients needed. It turned out very good, all I had to do at the end of the day was add the potatoes, plate it up, and thicken the sauce. We made a pretty good team. We had a good meal with good friends, who went home early, cause we're all getting old and also because there was a break in the weather and they needed to get back.

We had a chance to venture over to Target for some last minute shopping, put when Jonny and I came back out to the car, the whole garage was backed up and no cars were going anywhere, also the snow started falling again outside. We waited in the car for awhile, but finally I told Philip, we might as well get out of the car and grab some lunch and do some more shopping, because the cars were going nowhere fast.
It was a very good choice. Philip got some new snow boots, we finished off our shopping completely and we ate a good lunch.
When we got back to the car, the garage traffic was moving again and the security guards were directing traffic.
When we entered the exiting line of cars, this lady in a Lexus laid on her horn, flicked us all off, and mouthed to us that she had been waiting in the back for 2 hours! I just did a thumbs up and smiled at her and said, "You just flicked off my kids in the back seat, Merry Christmas to you too!"
On the way out of the garage Philip was polite and DWJWD and let a couple cars in front of us so they could get out and along their way...

It snowed all night and all the next day. We made it to church and had our Simbang "Gabi" at the morning mass. There were fewer parishoners at church, but all seemed to make it over for the brunch we served. It was very nice. Philip and Jonny played outside in the school playground for hours in the snow. I had to beg them to leave. Jonny was wet from swimming in the snow. Even wet all the way down to his underwear and socks...
On the way home, we picked up a snowy tree from the boyscout troop @ the safeway parking lot. I got ended up getting the first one i saw.
We had a nice leisurely evening of setting up the tree, letting it defrost, decorating, and playing with the electric toy train.

Yesterday, Philip drove us out to my office, so that I could pack my desk up for our office move that is occurring over the break. I didn't know I had sooo much crap in my desk! It took quite awhile(5 boxes!), but the boys and Philip took a nap out in the car, Built a snowman, played in the snow, did donuts in the parking lot, went to eat dinner and then I was done. Philip said that it wasn't such a bad wait since they had the snow to play in and napping to do.
We even made it out to Bellevue Square on the way home. I go to Bellevue Square only once a year, only because we've had such good luck for 4 years with the Nordstrom Santa Claus. Usually, you can put your name down and give them your cell phone number, then go get something to eat or do shopping and they'll call you when your turn is up. I called ahead last night, but she said that there was only a 5 or 10 minute wait. We got there, when there were 4 families in front of us. Jacob was excited to see Santa this year, when last year he was terrified. Jon on the other hand has never been scared of that Santa guy at all. We were in and out of there. So fast that Jacob was reluctant to leave. He wanted to hang out with Santa for a little longer.
We went straight out the door into our car and went on home.
Still good luck!
The only sad thing, is that they didn't get a combined picture with Aly this year. Maybe we can all go back after Christmas, or take real portraits....

Anyways...One more day of work from home and then no more work (kinda) until next year!

Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday Jesus!

Need a break

I've been running on empty. Too much work, too much volunteering, to much socializing, to many things to do!

At least I have a holiday break to look forward to.

Our Jacob turned 3 last week. And he awoke the next day saying, "mommy, I'm not a baby anymore. I'm 3 and I'm a big boy and I'm going to school with Jonny."
Of course my response to him had something to do with potty trianing.

Jacob is also a cowboy lately. And for his birthday, we got him a horse on a stick, cowboy hat, sheriff's badge, and a lasso(it's actually an orange jumprope).
He goes around giddy-yapping and yehaw-ing.

We also found out today that Jon will be wearing glasses.

The snow fell here all day and all I did was work. I didn't even get to snuggle up to my husband and kids and get that cozy feeling.

I'm thinking during break, I need to workout instead of sleep in. Then come home and nap and spend lots of fun times with my boys at home.

I just hope to have a clean house to relax in. I wish I had a magic twinkling nose or a magic ponytail I could whip forward. I don't want to be a blond though, because it just wouldn't go with me completion.

Enlightenment
So, I get sick of bootie songs on the radio and I switch between Democracy Now (KBCS) and now have added NPR, since I catch the end of Democracy Now during morning commute and then listen to what I missed.

Here are links to interesting pieces, I heard on NPR:

I listened to this piece on political history repeating itself

Long restful weekend, packed with lots of cooking and fun
Jonny built this track all by himselfFw: More fishing buddiesThanksgiving craft: Wally moon dwellingMaple brined turkey 3/4 time to roast moreSweet potato piesPumpkin cream pie w/out toppingHomemade piecrust, since Philip reported the premade ones are full of transfat
Jonny built his very own train track, Uncle Ben came for a visit (We got to visit with Dr. Ryan too), Thanksgiving crafts: Wally's moon dwelling, Cooking the turkey,
sweet potato pies, pumpkin cream pies(yum), homemade pie crust(since Philip read the labels and store bought contained bad transfats)

We had a quiet Thanksgiving with only 7 of us, it was quite lovely for a change.
We had a play day with bren and mads, Ihop, Bolt movie, hanging out. Poor Cosmo got at home shave instead of being taken to the groomers. He looks so sad about it.
A day of lounging around our own house.
Church and brunch with Uncle Ben, Auntie Lynne and my cousin Dr. Ryan, who is opening his own Chiropractic office in Beverly Hills! So proud of him. We also had Filipino Folk Dancing practice. It's engrained in us and Maria who is in 6th grade is a natural at tinikling. She knows most of the dance in 2 hours!
