Coming Along

I picked up my DALE Yarn from Weaving Works the other day. They had all the colors I needed too. Remember, I'm making the boy's sweater...I only altered the light green color they call for in the pattern, for another that was more vibrant.
A fellow knitter at the store asked me if I would be able to finish the sweater in time for my baby(I'm 8 months along now and it's pretty obvious he's coming soon). I told her that I thought I could do it. Just in case, I'm making it for size 12 months, so he can wear it longer.

Now that I've started, I know I'll have no problem finishing. I love it when I get on a project that makes me crave knitting. While I'm at work, I wish I could just reach down and knit another row. And once that row is finished I want to do the next and the next because the pattern is so vibrant and cute! I'm too wierd, I know, but you fellow knitter's know the feeling.

The pattern is a little different from what I'm used to. For the body, you start out knitting on straight needles, just for the bottom border, then join and knit in the round for the patterned part. You cast on some "cutting stitches" where the opening of the cardigan will be. When you're finishing it, you sew some machine stitches on each side of the cutting stitches, then cut for the opening. I'm a little scared to do that, but I'll figure it out when I get there. Has anyone done this before?
